Nancy R. Daly

Nancy R. Daly, MS, MPH
Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Daly is the Chief Executive Officer of Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation. She launched her clinical nursing career at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center. Following graduate school at Columbia University, she stayed on as Director of Operations in the Radiation Oncology Department before resuming her clinical career as Director of the Chemical-modifier Program at the Joint Center for Radiotherapy at Harvard Medical School. Leaving the clinical world, Ms. Daly started her policy career with the American Society for Radiation Oncology as the Director of Government Relations. She joined ASCO as Director of Cancer Research Policy in 2004, later becoming Director of Grants for The ASCO Cancer Foundation, the precursor to Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation. In 2016, Ms. Daly became the Chief Philanthropic Officer and Executive Vice President for Conquer Cancer, and in 2020, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Amy Peterson

Amy Peterson, MD
Secretary

Dr. Peterson joined the Board of Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, in 2019 and currently serves on the Executive Committee as Secretary. She is a physician–scientist and global biopharmaceutical executive with more than two decades of experience leading oncology drug development, regulatory strategy, and enterprise‑scale operations across both public biotech and large pharmaceutical organizations. She has held senior leadership roles at Exelixis, CytomX, BeiGene (now BeOne Medicines), Medivation, and Genentech, serving as Chief Medical, Development, and/or Operations Officer since 2016. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of AuraClinical, an early‑stage biotechnology company. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Peterson has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing cancer care and improving patient outcomes. She has guided multiple programs from discovery and first‑in‑human studies through global registration, integrating clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, quality, and operational functions to deliver speed with scientific and operational rigor. Dr. Peterson completed her hematology/oncology training at the University of Chicago, where she also served on faculty. She previously completed her internal medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, earned her MD from Thomas Jefferson University, and received her BA from Wesleyan University.

Alexander Casdin

Alexander Casdin, FASCO
Treasurer

Mr. Casdin is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Epirium Bio. He has broad financial and operational expertise, with more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare executive and investor. Prior to joining Epirium, Mr. Casdin was founder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and portfolio manager of Reneo Capital Management LP, a successful healthcare investment fund. He previously served as CFO of Sophiris Bio, Inc. and Vice President of Finance for Amylin Pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Casdin was a founder and senior advisor at Casdin Advisors, LLC; CEO and portfolio manager at Cooper Hill Partners, LLC, a healthcare investment fund; and portfolio manager of Pequot Capital Management’s healthcare fund. Earlier, he worked at the Dreyfus Corporation as a senior managing analyst covering pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices.

Mr. Casdin currently serves on the board of directors of Erasca, Inc., and has been on the board of directors for multiple life science companies including Dusa Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Ignyta, Inc. Mr. Casdin received an M.B.A from Columbia Business School, Beta Gamma Sigma, and a B.A. in political science from Brown University.

Clifford A. Hudis

Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP, FASCO
Executive Vice Chair and ASCO Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Hudis is the CEO of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Executive Vice Chair of Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation. Previously he served for nearly two decades as the Chief of the Breast Medicine Service and Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City where he was also a Professor of Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He was co-chair of the Breast Committee of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology (formerly Cancer and Leukemia Group), Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the President of ASCO during its 50th anniversary year, 2013-2014.

For almost 30 years he worked to develop more effective treatment and prevention for breast cancer. His early work focused on translating the kinetic predictions of the Norton-Simon model into more effective dose-dense adjuvant chemotherapy programs. For the past decade he has studied the interplay of inflammation, obesity, and cancer and his group described low grade, chronic white adipose inflammation in most overweight and obese women. His group has made similar observations in other malignancies and risk groups and have used these insights to inform intervention studies and public policy initiatives at an international level.

Eric J. Small

Eric J. Small, MD, FASCO
ASCO President

Dr. Small is a medical oncologist with a focus in urologic malignancies, with particular interest in prostate cancer. He serves as co-leader of the UCSF Prostate Cancer Program where he is PI of the UCSF Prostate Cancer SPORE,  and as deputy director and chief scientific officer of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Prior to these roles he served for ten years as chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the UCSF Department of Medicine. He is a past member of the ASCO Board of Directors, served as the founding chair of the ASCO Genitourinary Symposium,  and most recently has served as a mentor in ASCO’s Leadership Development Program. Dr. Small has served as chair of five external advisory boards for other National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers. He is an international leader in prostate cancer research, has published over 450 peer-reviewed articles, and was inducted as an Oncology Live Giants of Cancer Care in 2022.   

Kathryn Beal

Kathryn Beal, MD
Board Member

Dr. Beal is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Weill Cornell Medical Center and is the Director of the Center for Brain Metastases and Survivorship at the Meyer Cancer Center. Previously she was the chief of the brain tumor service within the Department of Radiation Oncology at MSKCC where she trained as a resident and was on staff for more than 15 years. Dr. Beal received her BA from Harvard College, then received her medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, and completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she was also elected Chief Resident.

Dr. Beal is involved with many treatment protocols of radiation therapy for brain tumors as well as imaging of brain tumors as related to radiation therapy planning and treatment response. She was awarded an R21 grant to investigate the use of “18F-Fluorocholine (18F-FCho) to distinguish necrosis from recurrence in brain metastases.” She personally treats ~200 brain metastases patients per year with stereotactic radiosurgery and manages these patients long-term.

Dr. Beal has published and presented several original studies that demonstrate a change in response and improved outcome in patients treated with the combination of SRS and immunotherapy and is a world-renowned leader in this emerging field.

Dr. Beal is also a board member of the Magnolia Medical Technologies, a medical device company her father founded, as well as a board member of the NY Philharmonic.
